OUR STORY

Our journey is a true family story, one rooted in the deep South and centered around the simple, joyful act of summer BBQ's. It begins in the small town of Meridian, Mississippi, where the late Mr. Jessie Charles (JC) King affectionately known to all as Gus, first perfected his legendary sauce.The Original Pit Master
For over two decades, from the late 1960s through the late 1980s, our grandfather’s pit was the magnetic center of our lives. Our summer months were filled with family gatherings, reunions, state fairs, blues festivals and church activities, all fueled by JC's exceptional BBQ and his incredible skill set.
He was a master craftsman and famously protective of his recipes. His smoke-filled pit room was a sacred space, and you’d risk a few "choice words" if you got too close!
Fortunately, one of his grandchildren, Tony Ellis, shared a unique bond that granted him rare access. As a child between the ages of 9 and 12, Tony was allowed into the pit room to help with the preparation, operating a big manual can opener attached to the table and pouring ingredients into the huge, old-fashioned stock pots, two of which he still owns today.
Though he wasn't interested in the recipe back then, those vivid early childhood memories were the key. The aroma, the process, the family love were internally locked away.
Years later, a desire to re-ignite this family tradition was too strong to ignore. The brothers came together, committed to resurrecting the classic flavor profile.
Tony presented his recollections of the taste and process from 35-40 years ago, and we began the meticulous work of testing ingredients. Through dedication and a shared passion for our grandfather's legacy, we successfully crafted our own signature sauce versions.
Today, we proudly present the result of that journey. Our brand of sauces is more than just a condiment; it is a bottle of history, a tribute to our grandfather, Mr. Jessie Charles (JC) King, and a continuation of a family tradition started decades ago in Meridian, MS.
We are confident that our sauces stand among the best on the market, and we look forward to reaching a wider audience with this true taste of heritage honoring The entire King Family. Both past and present.
